Where Are They Now: Rich Hayes

My wife Joanne and have been living in Overland Park, Kansas since my promotion from Eastern Region Operations Manager to District Manager in KC back in 1999.  We love our time here with a great quality of living at an affordable price.  I was hired at Osco Drug back in 1984 in New England as a Management Trainee and have worked in many stores in New Hampshire and Massachusetts before moving into the Eastern Region office as a Special Markets Manager.  We have 3 adult children Robert 32, James 31 and Caroline 28 all doing very well in their careers and personal lives and couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments!

We enjoy spending our free time on nights and weekends with our immediate, and now growing family with the addition of a daughter in law, son in law and now Grandson!  We go for walks every day making sure we get at least 10,000 steps in, watch all of our favorite Boston sports teams, Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots attending games when in the area.  We also love to go to concerts mostly to see our favorite old rock and roll bands.  I also enjoy golfing, fishing and hunting deer...and in Kansas there's plenty of those deer around - although my skill as a hunter ensures that all animals remain safe when I am around!

We have enjoyed several vacations over time, but the one that comes to mind is the week we spent last year on Cape Cod Massachusetts in an Air B&B in Wellfleet right on the water, spending time on the beautiful beaches, going deep sea fishing; day trip to Martha's Vineyard; taking in a Cape Cod baseball league game (where the best college and maybe some outstanding high school players play over the summer every year and many of those players make it to the Major Leagues), spending time at a cookout catching up with some of my childhood friends who now live on the Cape and I haven't seen them for several years.  Great catching up with them and their families.

Fondest memories are way too many to mention.  But all my memories all seem to have certain qualities in common amongst our Osco family up and down the organization.  We worked hard, respected one another, and encouraged career growth, high integrity, helped one another, drove business metrics forward while never loosing sight of the impact on people and customers.  We had leaders that continually supported a culture that made it fun and I truly loved working for Osco Drug.         .
