Peter L. Lynch, former chairman, president and CEO of Winn-Dixie Stores, has been elected to the board of directors of Retail Properties of America, Oak Brook, Ill.
According to Steven Grimes, the compainy’s president and CEO, “RPAI has a strong grocery-anchored portfolio, which represents approximately 37% of our total multi-tenant retail portfolio, and Lynch’s extensive background in the grocery industry, as well as his years of experience in strategic business planning and financial management, will make him a valuable asset to our board.”
RPAI, a real-estate investment trust, owns and operates U.S. shopping centers, with 227 retail operating properties representing 31.2 million square feet.
Lynch was CEO of Winn-Dixie from 2004 through 2006 and held the added titles of chairman and president from 2006 through 2012. Before joining the Jacksonville, Fla.-based chain, he spent five years with Albertsons, Boise, Idaho, ultimately serving as president and chief operating officer.
