Although being fortunate to work from home during the pandemic, the hours spent each day in front of the laptop and on Zoom calls for over 15 months helped provide encouragement for change. I had joined Fidelity in 2001 after leaving Osco/Sav-on in Utah and moving back to New Hampshire. I retired from Fidelity Investments in July 2021. I had joined Fidelity in 2001 after leaving Osco/Sav-on in Utah and moving back to New Hampshire. Lots of great memories at Osco. Started at 16 as a part time photo clerk in Lowell, MA. Management had an incentive for chasing down and catching shoplifters… one hour’s pay for each shoplifter caught! The store was sufficiently staffed so that you could go on break with at least three people at a time. Managers and pharmacists really loved the work.
In the last few years, I’ve vacationed in England, Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. The best trip I have taken so far was a three-week 2019 vacation in Italy where we visited Florence, Cinque Terre, Rimini, Salerno, Pompeii and Rome, . The family stayed for a week at a villa in Tuscany and the owner advised the Wi-Fi password was ‘terrivita’. I asked why that PW was selected and the Italian owner indicated it’s a place in Scottsdale, AZ where his parents spend the winters. Terrivita the same community where the Osco/Sav-on alumni club held annual brunches for years - small world! Travel plans are on hold; once things settle after the pandemic and hopefully get back to normal, travel plans include Spain, Greece, Australia and New Zealand. I got my first set of golf clubs this past summer also started to play (not too well - yet!). I am planning to rejoin the town’s school budgeting committee.
I enjoyed working at Osco/Sav-on. Made lots of friends and had great times!
