In October, Ace Hardware Corporation recognized Betty Soller (former Osco Market Manager, former Central Region Operations Manager) and husband Dan Soller (former Osco store director) for customized service.
Whether in need of power tools and camping equipment or the finest in housewares, residents of Crosslake, Minnesota can find everything they need at Crosslake Ace Hardware. For offering these unique products, services and more, Ace Hardware Corporation recognized the store in October with a 2013 “Coolest Hardware Store” award. Of 4,700 locally-owned and operated Ace Hardware stores worldwide, Crosslake Ace Hardware is one of just six stores honored with this year’s award.
“The team at Crosslake Ace Hardware is delighted to receive this tremendous recognition,” said Dan Soller, store owner, “Our dedicated team listens to what our customers need and takes pride in offering the very best in customer service each and every day; from our loyal resident shoppers to our returning seasonal guests – it’s like a big family.” Crosslake Ace Hardware offers more than the average hardware store – and that is immediately evident by the 25 ft. Ace hammer that stands outside the store, made out of a tree. The inside is just as exciting with its “man cave” that features top power equipment brands including Husqvarna, Toro and Craftsman.
The 25,000 sq. ft. store also boasts a fully-stocked appliance room with a working kitchen shaped like a Chris-Craft boat. The store also offers a paint department, housewares and gifts that are unique to the area and rows of grills from top brands including Weber, Big Green Egg and Memphis Grills.
In total, the Crosslake Ace store carries more than 70,000 different products. In fact, nearly one third of the entire store’s product selection is unique to the store’s region, specifically catering to area residents and vacationing guests. “We like to think our female customer loves to shop our store just as much as our male customers,” Soller went on to say. Crosslake Ace Hardware carries a wide range of clothing, even sundresses. Service and expertise are also extremely important to the team at Crosslake Ace Hardware. Owners Dan and Betty Soller ensure that every specialty department is staffed by an equally knowledgeable expert in the field. In fact, several times per year Crosslake Ace Hardware brings in a professional chef for special customer appreciation events. “Having the right person to help our customers with plumbing or an electrical project, as well as choosing the right paint or appliance is crucial,” said Dan. “We have the know-how in those areas to get it done right the first time. It is truly a ‘team’ effort and without our employees we would not have won this award” according to Betty.
We applaud the team at Crosslake Ace Hardware for their commitment to providing a consistently amazing shopping experience for the local community,” said Kane Calamari, vice president of retail operations and new business at Ace Hardware Corporation. “Our national brand, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of our local owner ensures that Ace stores around the globe can differentiate themselves to compete and win.”
