Albertsons Cos. said Friday Susan Morris has been named EVP, retail operations, for its East region.
She succeeds Kelly Griffith, who said he plans to leave the company. The East region encompasses 811 stores.
Morris has been president of the company’s Denver division since March 2015, overseeing more than 140 stores in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota and New Mexico.
Succeeding her as president of the division will be Todd Broderick, SVP, operations, for the company's Portland, Ore., division. Broderick joined Safeway in 1981 as a courtesy clerk in the Seattle division and held positions in the Northwest and Denver divisions before moving to corporate in 2011 as vice president, retail marketing and execution; he was named VP, retail operations, for the Northern California division and, a year later, to VP, operations, before moving to the Portland division
Morris joined Albertsons as a customer service clerk in Colorado at age 16, worked at store level until she graduated from college and then accepted a job at the division office, ultimately holding positions in grocery, bakery and operations.
When Albertsons assets were sold to Supervalu, she became VP of customer satisfaction, then rejoined Albertsons LLC in March 2013 as SVP, sales and merchandising. She subsequently was VP, marketing and merchandising for the company’s Southwest division and Intermountain division president before running the Denver division.
