2024 May 10th: Dennis Williams

Dennis James Williams, of Ridgewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2024.  Born on July 4th, 1953, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dennis was the beloved son of Sylvester (Bill) and Mary (Brubaker) Williams of Milan, Michigan.

Dennis excelled in academics and sports, graduating from Milan High School in 1971 and earning his BBA from Western Michigan University in 1975 with Academic Honors. He was a standout athlete, participating in football, baseball, basketball, and track, and was honored with numerous awards throughout his athletic career.

After a distinguished 40-year career as a business executive with leading retail Fortune 500 companies such as Osco Drug, Toys 'R Us, Petco, and Walmart, Dennis retired in 2015.

A man of many passions, Dennis was a devoted fan of sports, particularly golf, and had a keen interest in cooking, movies, books, theater, and music spanning jazz, classical, and classic rock genres. He held a deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and cherished his church, West Side Presbyterian, as well as his high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, Doris Ann (Koczman) Williams.

Dennis' greatest joy was spending time with his family, including his children Heidi (Phil) Davis, Emily (Nathaniel) Gach, Eric Williams, and Byron (Nina) Williams, and his cherished grandchildren Lily, Malcolm, Violet, Christian, and Juniper. He is also survived by his beloved brother Daniel (Wendy) Williams.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Dennis' life will be held at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, New Jersey, at 11am on June 1st, 2024, presided over by Rev. Mark Oehler and Rev. Zak Williams. Dennis' ashes will be laid to rest in the West Side Memorial garden, surrounded by family, choir music and comforting words.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, a cause close to Dennis' heart. His parting wish is for everyone to love and care for one another.
