2023 September 22nd: ROMEO Brunch

I just returned from a brunch on the patio of the General Store at which 5 participants displayed their colors. Never fear, these colors would not instigate attacks or destruction. They are likened to the color of the golf cart flags that seniors are allowed to fly to indicate that they are limited.

It was great to see John Spellman coming to join us after a visit with his hair stylist. We all were able to listen to his adventure of being on Maui at the time of the Lahaina fire with all the build up and then the realization of the destruction. So tragic…very much like the Paradise California devastation a couple of years ago. He has been traveling quite a bit lately… we were talking about the fire for so long I forgot to ask about his son who had the heart transplant. I would assume he is doing well.

Dave Schoenbeck looked grand in his broad brim golf hat…I asked if that was a new look and he indicated he went to that only after three procedures to remove skin cancer from his scalp… now that would get your attention! I am sure there was discomfort there, but gratitude as well to get it contained. Dave and Ellen and total family went on a wonderful family at a lake outside of Atlanta. He rented a big home and some water toys and everyone, including grandkids 5, 5, 3, 1 had plenty of experiences. Dave also went to Northern Ontario to fish with his brother at a wonderful rustic lodge and each caught 80 plus a day…a workout!

It was good to also see Tim Sauer after some time away. Tim has been busy with neck, spine and arm surgeries. What stories he tells. Of course these come with prolong physical therapy and the build up of balance and strength of the muscles. Tim talked about he and Sandy’s magnificent trip to Bora Bora and his lunch watching beautiful coral and fish as they dined on glass top tables. I am surprised they returned.

Frank Stock also is recovering from skin cancer procedures on the side of his cheek. He has a scar about two inches long but not very noticeable. He likes to say he got that in a knife fight…well, he is in the financial world!

We all hope everyone is doing well. Gerry
