Robert “Bob” E. Braden, 84, of Naperville, IL, passed away on Friday April 28, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on July 21, 1938, in Vermont, IL, to Mary L. nee Holmberg and Pike J. Braden.
Loving husband of 38 years to Sharron nee Ott who he married on September 16, 1984, at the memorial chapel in Naperville. Together they shared many wonderful years. Dear father of Lisa McFarlane and Steven (Laura) Walsh. Doting grandfather of Cassidy McFarlane and Riley McFarlane. Uncle of Tim Schilling and Eric Schilling. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Margaret (Richard) Schilling.
Bob grew up in Vermont, IL, and attended Springfield High School, graduating class of 1955. He went on to attend Millikin University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing, graduating with Honors. Bob joined the Army Reserve in 1962 and served until 1968.
He worked in the marketing department at Osco Drug and was eventually promoted to Head of Advertising. After 45 years with Osco Drug, he retired in 1995.
Bob enjoyed visiting casinos and playing cards—especially blackjack and bridge. Bob had a special appreciation for jazz, dixieland, and folk music. He loved to spend time with his family. Bob will be
deeply missed.

Remember “COUNT OF PEOPLE WHO CARE”, the Osco Marketing and Advertising theme of the 80’s and 90’s?
Well, we could always COUNT ON BOB BRADEN BECAUSE HE DID CARE.
He cared deeply about the business, the customer, his associates, friends, and family. His entire energy was devoted to Osco and the people.
As a leader in Merchandising and Advertising, his numerous contributions to strategic planning, advertising strategy, ad production, print and electronic supplier negotiations, and Osco public relations were undeniably essential and key to the success of the business.
Bob had a wonderful mind, with amazing recall, creativity, and humor. His written and verbal communication skills served us and the business well.
More importantly, Bob was instrumental…
