Scott Dick, 29, was one of three employees of Osco #404 in South Bend, Indiana who were shot to death on Saturday morning August 25, 1990 inside the store during an armed robbery. He was a 1979 graduate of Adams Central High School in Monroe, Indiana and a 1983 graduate of Ball State University in Muncie with a bachelor's degree in science and education. Scott was a member of the Education Honor Society at Ball State. He was a quarterback on Adams Central's football team as a senior, and was named to the Allen County Athletic Conference's all-conference team that year as a safety. He was also a four- year varsity baseball player for the Flying Jets.
Scott joined Osco's management trainee program in 1986 and worked at store locations in Indianapolis and Muncie, Indiana. In April 1990, Scott and his family relocated to Granger, Indiana after accepting a position at the South Bend store on Western Avenue.
